Teatime

I came across a wonderful blog posting on www.redlemonclub.com that I found EXTREMELY helpful. It is titled "What EVERY Creative Person with a Product or Service Absolutely NEEDS to Know." A simple breakdown with awesome visuals that make it easy to follow, this posts explains the various aspects of starting up your business and promoting you and your product. I know there are SO many of these sort of posts online, but I truly found this one helpful and insightful.

Im currently in a time in life where I'm realizing how seriously I want to take myself and what I do more seriously and start up a business. After reading this I got out my pen and notebook (old school style) and wrote down some questions that came up while reading that I wanted to answer for myself.

Strawberry Pattern

Strawberries! Playing around with repeat patterns using Photoshop and made this using an illustration I created some time ago. I think I'll have to get this on some fabric. Maybe make placemats, dish towels, or table napkins. We'll see!

Hand sewn onesies

Since graduating in 2010 I began to have a desire to make clothing and products for kids. As I realized my love for pattern making, hand sewing, and illustration fun and quirky ideas, it seemed like the perfect direction to go and market to enter. 

Now that I'm a new aunt I can't help but act on this desire of mine. For Mother's Day I had no clue what to get my sister. A couple hours before leaving to go spend time with her and my mom I got the idea to make this onesie for her. I began to get anxious and left, but finished once I got there. 

This onesie is really simple and didn't take too long, but I'm now so excited and anxious to come up with some more intricate or simple designs. With many of my generation turning into mommies this could be the perfect project for this time, and perhaps something I'll pursue for some time -- who knows!

I love words and quotes. Especially inspiring ones. As I've gotten older I realize how I've clung to words that people have shared with me or that I've read ever since I was young. Because I love words so much I've wanted to use them some how in the things that I create. I want to encourage and inspire others the way I have been over time.

So this begins my Wise Grasshopper Quotes of the Day. I'll just share a quote and maybe do an illustration to go along with it.
